100 Gamers Drew Icons From Memory, Had Trouble With The PlayStation Logo

100 gamers were asked to draw some of gaming's most famous characters, logos, and icons, and it seems as if it's not as easy as you might think.

There are certain logos and characters almost anyone in the world will be able to instantly recognize. The golden arches of McDonald's, Coca-Cola's iconic red branding, and Apple's apple. While not as globally recognized as those, the same can be applied to the gaming world. So many of us have grown up on and continue to see some of the industry's most recognizable images every single day.

However, how would you fare if you were asked to draw those icons and characters from memory? It sounds easy enough, but as was proved by Casino.org recently, it's trickier than it seems. The website gathered up 100 avid gamers and asked them to do exactly that. Some of the renditions are pretty good, but others are downright baffling.

Every drawing was rated out of ten by a panel of expert judges. The easiest images of that were the easiest to recall and draw were the Pokéball and Pac-Man. We certainly hope so since both are just circles made up of very basic colors. Still, one confused participant gave their Pokéball legs and a face. We'd love to know the thought process behind that one.

The 100 gamers were also asked to draw the logos for the Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. Considering the simplicity of the PS4's logo, and the fact it has remained almost identical between generations, we'd have thought that would have been the easiest to remember and replicate. Even the very best ones aren't great, and the worst ones are, well, presumably drawn by someone who has never owned a PlayStation.

The iconic character the gamers appeared to be the least familiar with was Link. One gamer even opted to draw a stick man with "don't know" underneath. Link's Master Sword got even less love, although that's an item rather than a logo, so we're willing to allow more leniency for that one. As for our personal favorite from the hundreds of drawings submitted, that goes to the confused gamer who decided to draw an Xbox One console rather than its logo. Impressive, but not what the judges were looking for.
