Excited for Ubuntu Linux 11.10? The Official Countdown Has Begun

IT may not compare with the hype that comes out of Cupertino or Redmond, but there's no denying that the newfound "This Is the Countdown" website launched in the past few days adds a big venereal infection of excitement to the future launch of Ubuntu 11.10, or "Oneiric Felis pardalis."

"A whole new worldwide," reads the text happening the site. "A whole late computer."

Besides available on the site is a downloadable flyer in PDF format, accomplished with QR inscribe and teardrop-off strips.

Release Candidate en route

Oneiric Felis pardalis, or Ubuntu 11.10, is, of line, the next forthcoming version of Canonical's Ubuntu distribution of the free and unobstructed source Linux operating system, and it's certainly anticipated with a fair bit of excitement. Following the found of the first beta version of the software in early September, the intermediate beta dismissal came out later in the calendar month.

I've long felt that a relative lack of marketing is one of the main reasons desktop Linux hasn't gained more mainstream acceptance, so I'm particularly delirious to see this latest progress behalf of Ubuntu.

Law may take in raised to a higher degree a few eyebrows with more or less of the decisions it successful for the in conclusion Ubuntu–Natty Narwhal–but I still believe many of them do a deal of sense, particularly for Linux newcomers.

Now, this fresh attention to marketing is one more sign that Ubuntu, of all the Linux distributions exterior there, is currently the one with the best risk at achieving widespread mainstream toleration. I can't wait to determine the final version next calendar week.
